Analogue To Digital File Service

With ICT playing a more and more important role in children’s education, the need for appropriate material to support topics, themes and projects within the curriculum is constantly growing. Many schools possess a wealth of resources that are paper, film, video and audio based that could be valuable file material for ICT projects if they existed in a suitable file format.

It is possible to convert any of these analogue materials to a digital format but often the process is time consuming requiring the purchase of specialist peripherals and a resulting learning curve in the operation of this equipment

We can now offer an economically priced analogue to digital conversion service for clients. Tony can offer advice and support in all these areas.

Paper Based Resources

Most paper based resources can be converted to a GIF or JPG image file that is compatible with must computer applications. Book resources can also be scanned into GIF and JPEG files. Specific pages from several books can be scanned onto a CD .

Any photograph can be scanned into a GIF or JPEG format. It is also possible to enhance or repair damage to specific areas of a photograph prior to scanning.

The cost is £0,50 per item and £1 per print for repair

Film Resources

Almost any photographic negative material can be converted to a GIF or JPG image file that is compatible with must computer applications. 35mm slides can be converted into image files.

It is possible to mix the different analogue material and present it all on one CD or a range of CD’s reflecting different school project resources.

The cost is £0.50 per image

Video Resources

The life of a video tape is estimated to be between 10-12 years, at which point the quality of the recorded material begins to deteriorate. Existing VHS video material can be converted into a digital file format and versioned onto a CD or DVD. Camcorder analogue tapes can be transferred in the same way. Existing DV camcorder material can be edited and supplied in CD or DVD format.

Cost per hour of recorded material £5.00

Cassette / Tape / Disc Resources

Tape material can deteriorate in the save way as video material. It is possible to convert any cassette tape recording into digital format for use in IT applications or other digital equipment. Reel to reel tape can also be converted.

Cost per hour of recorded material £5.00

Vinyl recordings can be converted to digital format at the same cost.
