Naacemark School Number Sixteen

Date: 21-07-2005

Anthony pictured with Lorna (head teacher) and Keely (ICT coordinator) at the end of the accreditation process.

Ringwood Junior School became the company’s latest school to receive Naacemark accreditation when Anthony visited on Thursday, July 21st, 2005. Lorna Thompson, the school’s head teacher, is a member of the Hampshire SLICT team so is a good friend of us all at Gatehouse. Keeley, ICT coordinator, has known Anthony for a couple of years after attending an ICT Coordinator course he was helping to run.

Following the official part of the accreditation process, Anthony spoke with several of the staff and five of the children, two from Year 6 and three from Year 4, all of whom enthused about the ICT developments in the school during the past two years.

Lorna attended the first SLICT Programme organised by the Hampshire team at Botleigh Grange in Spring 2003 and claims that this started her on the development of ICT throughout the school that has led to the current position of excellence.

Ringwood becomes the sixteenth school to receive Naacemark accreditation through Gatehouse and will be the final one for this current academic year. There are several more schools near completion under the existing scheme. The new IT Routemap, which will replace Naacemark, is to be introduced over the coming six months: full details will appear on our web site.
