Our Strengths
We have a total of over 100 years' experience
in the field of educational ICT development and will be seeking
to add to that over the coming years, as well as exploring other,
non-educational areas.
• The SLICT national
programme for primary school head teachers
• Self Review Framework/ICT Mark for
primary schools
• Technical
are described in greater detail elsewhere on the
company site.
Our other areas of expertise and enthusiasm are
as follows:
• Curriculum support in primary schools.
Anthony has been an acknowledged expert in this area for many years:
his advice is constantly being sought by schools and often this
will be linked to the ICT Mark process.
• Training courses. Hampshire LEA organises
a wide range of ICT support courses. During the coming academic
year, Tony is listed in the LEA Course Directory to run a series
of courses on technical and hardware support issues. Gatehouse has
successfully run short courses in Assessment, Early Years' Planning
and Practice, and Self Review Framework/ICT Mark. Our Day Conference
for ICT managers/Co-ordinators, was very well recieved, with its
mixture of workshops, demonstrations and networking fun! In addition,
we offer bespoke in-service training to support schools' needs.
• School leadership. Gale offers support
to primary school senior management teams building on the SLICT
programme but also working with individual schools. This is an area
of support that is growing both within Hampshire and, through the
company's ICT Mark and SLICT connections, country-wide.
• Network support. Geoff, Mike and Tony
have been supporting schools in the recent expansion of IT networks
and will continue to do this: their knowledge and understanding
has been built up in Hampshire over the past 25 years and they are
well-respected and trusted throughout the LEA.
• ICT solution development and installation.
Geoff offers curriculum ICT solutions, curriculum networking and
stand-alone solutions and installations of both.
• School ICT Technical surveys and support.
Tony and Geoff have been carrying out hardware surveys in primary
schools for over 15 years and have an acknowledged expertise in
this area that they will continue to develop over the coming years,
offering independent advice.
• Foundation stage. Gale, with 15 years’
recent headship experience and a passion for early learning, supports
early learning centres, nurseries, play groups and reception classes
as teachers and Teaching Assistants come to realise the potential
of ICT. She has helped to write the Early Years' Self Review Framework
and supporting guidance documentation. Please see our Early
Years page for more information.
• Web site support and design. Tony runs
courses for ICT managers and teachers on this but also works with
individual schools as required.
• Analogue to digital. Tony now offers an
economically priced analogue to digital conversion of paper, film,
video and audio resources that creates valuable material for all
areas of the curriculum.
• ICT software and peripheral support installations.
Tony runs courses for ICT managers and technicians as well as teaching
and non-teaching staff and provides advice to schools on the latest
developments. Geoff can provide advice on software installation
and support.
• ICT equipment upgrades and repair. Tony
can take defective equipment and repair it as appropriate as part
of his technical support for schools.
• Assessment and levelling. Anthony is a
leading expert in this field and supports schools through in-service
opportunities, courses and SRF/ICT Mark support
sessions.
• Teaching and learning. Using ICT to support
teaching and learning is a fundamental element of the current educational
process. All four directors have vast experience in this area and
will be led by Gale who has the most recent current expertise.
• College and University support. The team
has been involved in two degree courses at Farnborough College of
Technology for ICT in Early Years' education. This process has enabled
Gale, Anthony and Tony to review their understanding and implementation
of ICT in a new and challenging setting. Gale has also supported
the University of Chichester with the Early Years' course module.
• Consultancy for LEAs. Gatehouse has been
advising the London Borough of Waltham Forest, on the content for
their website for 0-11 year olds.
• Special Needs. Anthony, Gale and Tony have
all supported Special Needs School head teachers, through the running
of Special SLICT programmes. Anthony and Gale are both supporting
Special Schools, via support sessions for theSelf
Review Framework leading to the ICT Mark.
