Since December 2005, Gatehouse Partnership Ltd, working in conjunction with major providers of computers, computer peripherals, and cabled and wireless network infrastructures, has devised and implemented ICT solutions for Infant, Junior, Primary and Special schools. By January 2008 some 23 schools across Hampshire had benefited from our main installation service.

The standard client / server solution based on Microsoft Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP professional Client was adapted to suit individual school requirements whilst retaining certain standards that readily allowed for ease of support and continuity. The solution offered features such as centralised printing and storage, private and shared data areas, centralised control of the Internet browser Favourite Web Sites and the ability to serve compliant software titles. Designed for ease of use and management, there was no requirement to be a “Microsoft Expert” to keep the system functioning. Automated backups and antivirus software updates were standard.

Geoff Parkin, the designer and instigator of the solution, has decided it is time to slow down and spend more time enjoying retirement. That said, the 23 schools who have benefited from the solution need not fear as support from Geoff for their systems will continue for a good while yet. Many of those schools rarely need much support as the system is largely self sustaining, and technical interventions are rare.

Gatehouse remains committed to responding to schools’ technical needs, such as printer problems, installation of software and ICT infrastructure and advice, on a school by school basis, dependent on the availability of our technical team.

The following schools have benefitted from Gatehouse’s main installation service. Currently, a further 25 schools have also received varying degrees of technical support and advice.
